A little about our formation

CWL Housing was founded by the Brentwood Branch of the Catholic Women’s League, a charitable organisation, in 1966.

By its rules, CWL Housing is an independent body, non-denominational, non-racial and non-profit making. It is run by a small salaried staff and voluntary members of the Board. The Board are responsible for the organisational and operation of the company.

CWL Housing is registered with charitable status under the Co-operative and Community Benefit Society Act 2014. Registered Number 17479 R. Homes and Community Agency (HSA), also known as The Regulator of Social Housing. It is also a member the National Housing Federation.

CWL Housing operates in the Essex area; St. Margaret’s comprising 14 one-bedroom apartments, situated in Eastwood, Leigh-on-Sea and St. Anne’s comprising of 30 apartments situated in Stifford Clays, Grays.
